Who make the financial decisions in your household? In my life, it is I who makes all the decisions about where our money goes and who pays what and how much we save etc. I wear the financial pants, the long stiff, cumbersome financial pants.
There are many times that I wish dealing with financial situations was more like wearing a skirt, commando. However, we are not in that point in our lives where I can wear the financial skirt so it is the over starched scratchy pants for me. You see the Chef has some, well... Money Issues. But that is another post all together.
This year is a mortgage renewal year. For most people, renewing a mortgage is nothing too special, a simple comparison of rates and interest combined with payments and long term financial goals (or so I am told). My mom seems to be able to do this with her eyes closed and always manages to seem cool and comfy, like wearing a skirt. I on the other hand am stressed out about this.
*Phone Call* Hello Tabitha this is MR. Bank calling about your mortgage. It is up for renewal this year and we would like to discuss your options. Do you have a moment.
Me: Sure.
Mr. Bank: Great how is Tuesday at 1:30 pm?
Me: Well, no, that does not exactly work for me.
Mr. Bank: Thursday at 11 am?
Me: Umm... no.
Mr. Bank: Monday at 3?
Me: Sir, I work during the day so I will not be able to meet at your office during the typical 9 to 5.
Mr. Bank: No problem, I totally understand. How is your family? Your house? Are you looking to sell any time soon? Interest rates are rising and I can get you the best rate out there. Unless you are planning on selling. Are you planning on selling? Are you still working? We can pay off your house faster if you do .....fjsepgbpegjnpjbgibgpjbgjwbrgjklberkgjbwpirbgpiwejbrtwbe. So... How is Friday at 9 am?
Me: *hangs up the phone* Hi, Mom? How do you renew a mortgage?
I may be 30 but I still need my Mommy, and I am proud of it!
